This is a workshop for new parents who are interested in carrying their babies using a wrap or carrier. The workshop will cover the benefits of babywearing as well as some key developmental and anatomical information about babies that is relevant to how and why we carry them.
There will be a brief overview of the many methods in which you can carry your baby. We will then focus on one basic way to use a woven wrap with a newborn (the Front Wrap Cross Carry) as well as several different Mei Tai or half buckle carriers. Mei Tais are a good compromise between a wrap (long piece of woven fabric) and a full buckle (everything buckles, no tying required). We will practice using weighted dolls and you can then try it with your own baby as well.
You will leave the class confident in how to safely and correctly carry your baby. You will also have had a chance to try several different types of carriers and can see which is most comfortable for you before purchasing one.
Please note that I do not sell the carriers, but can direct you to local or online shops if you are interested after the course.
You are encouraged but not required to bring your baby along.
